Operation Choi Kyung-tae, a non-mainstream actor, has attracted attention in the 3rd anniversary

The third anniversary posthumous work exhibition of Choi Kyung-tae (1957-2021, 81st year of art department) from our university was held from February 1.

The deceased was a writer who continued his work on popular art in the 1980s and 1990s and led the unconventional genre of pornography in the 2000s. At that time, the society did not accept this unconventional genre, and a person who watched the exhibition filed a complaint with the police, and all 35 works that were displayed were confiscated and incinerated after being judged to be pornographic performances.

The artist, who was on the border between art and obscenity, did not change his artistic ideology and thoughts until his death. “"I'm still an addict of pornography. If the sewer system is not maintained, the water will eventually overflow. I'm trying to take a different approach to politics and society in general with pornography," he said.

The deceased received criticism and attention for preoccupying a topic that had never been before, but since 2010, he could not reconcile with the mental epidemic developed in Korean society, and his health deteriorated due to cirrhosis, and unfortunately ended in 2021.

Marking the third anniversary of the death of the late artist, the exhibition will be held at galleries "Arte Forest" and "Tree Gallery." Exhibitions will be available through Feb. 9 (Tree Gallery) and Feb. 19 (Arte Forest).
